Workshop: Mindfulness for Parents: How Managing Stress Can Improve Parenting Capacity in the Moment

Lisa Kring is an LCSW (MSW- USC), and a committed practitioner of mindfulness meditation in the Theravada tradition for over 10 years. She began practicing studying clinically with Dan Siegel, which led to initial mindfulness training at MARC/UCLA. Presently, she finds community and teaches classes of all kinds, such as MBSR and Mindful Self Compassion, at Insight LA in Los Angeles under the guidance of founder Trudy Goodman. Lisa also facilitates groups and classes with people touched by cancer at the SIMMS/MANN Center for Integrative Oncology at UCLA and the Benjamin Center Cancer Support Community in Santa Monica. In addition, her teaching as led her to mindfulness trainings in corporate settings, such as William Morris Endeavor and ABC News. Lastly, through the support and guidance of Myla and Jon Kabat-Zinn, Lisa created a curriculum and teaches Mindfulness for Parents classes at Insight LA, and throughout private schools in the Los Angeles area. Lisa is a recent graduate of the Dedicated Practitioner’s Program at Spirit Rock. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two teenage children, whom she recognizes as her deepest teachers in life.
